USPS Module FAQ’s

USPS Module FAQ’s

This is the FAQ page for the USPS Shipping Module for Prestashop.

Why is this Module so complicated to install?

Can I use this Module with the UPS Module?

Why aren’t all the shipping options showing up?

Why does my shipping show up as free?

Why does my shipping show up as $-1.00?

Q: Can I use this Module with the UPS Module?

  • The USPS Module is fully compatible with the UPS Module.  Follow the installation instuctions for UPS users.  You must use the carrier.php and AdminCarriers.php files from the USPS module for both modules to work together.

Q: Why aren’t all the shipping options showing up?

  • The USPS Module uses code to select only applicable shipping methods.  If a package cannot be shipped via a certain method, that method will not show up during checkout.  For example, oversize packages cannot be shipped Priority Mail.  If a package is oversize, the Priority method will not show up during checkout.

Q: Why is this Module so complicated to install?

  • Unfortunately, the Module requires changes to core files to work properly.  It also requires a change to your Prestashop theme, as well as installation of a Smarty Plugin.  If I could find an easier way, I definitely would.  Hopefully in future versions of Prestashop we will be able to use this Module without having to alter so much of the Prestashop core.

Q: Why does my shipping show up as free?

  • If shipping shows up as free when it should not, that is an error.  Please double-check that you have installed everything correctly.  If so, then you can report the problems on the comments on this site or the official thread in the Prestashop Forums.

Q: Why does my shipping show up as $-1.00?

  • This happens if you have not updated order-carrier.tpl in your Prestashop theme or if you did not install the smarty plugin compiler.continue.php.
